Florida may require kayaking course (Wed Dec 20, 2006)
I would be interested to hear what our readers think about this article, please email us at kayakingtoday@gmail.com. I think that considering the amount of deaths I have seen this year all over the U.S., a course for safety would be a wonderful idea.

Check out the kayaking only 20 minutes from the beautiful city of Vancouver. Vancouver’s North Shore has three waterways for prime winter whitewater kayaking: Lynn Creek and the Seymour River, on North Vancouver’s east side, and the Capilano. The weather never gets too cold in the Vancouver area, and the whitewater playgrounds do not freeze in the winter.
Northwest Woodsman (Wed Nov 8, 2006)
This is a great site, I really liked the music and the canoeing video. Beautiful scenery of the great Northwest. Discover the sights and sounds that only solitude in the wilds will bring.

Mixing sports with medicine
Dr. Jesse Stone has left the U.S. for Africa to train in extreme kayaking. She saw another need when she got there. Malaria running rampant. She felt besides her training in kayaking that her medical degree could help with malaria education.

Warm weather great! Water may still kill you!
This article presents the dangers of kayaking in another light. Sure the weather may be warm and feel great, but the temperature of the water may still cause death through hypothermia. Just be aware while your kayaking about all safety procedures including proper equipment.

This article takes a look at something I long to do, kayak in Alaska. How exciting it must be to see the icebergs close up! The silence of the kayak allows you to see wildlife like you've never seen it before. Good Paddling.

No canoe can hold me
This is a hilarious look at not staying in your canoe or kayak. I know we have all taken a dunk now and again. Some get wet more than others. Just glad I can manage to stay on my kayak and in my canoe.

Sailing a Folding Kayak in the Everglades
I loved this story for several reasons. It is well written, it describes a boat very similar to one I plan to buy, and the trip is in a place that I plan to go.

I have canoed in the Okefenokee Swamp, and many times have played in the tidal marshes near home on the north coast of the Gulf of mexico, but the closest I have come to exploring Florida bay is looking out into it from Flamingo. It's very high on my list.

"DAY FIVE (goal -- Oyster Bay chickee to North River chickee via Whitewater Bay -- 12 miles): The wind was a beaut -- gusting to 30 knots, per NOAA, as I sailed from Oyster Bay across Whitewater Bay and up the North River. Whitewater Bay is wide and long-fetched and aptly named! With my batwing reefed down to a postage stamp, I zoomed across the Bay. Gray-green waves washed over the bow and broke on the splashboard. The windward ama smacked into wavetops and showered me with salt spray. Hazel bounced along, taking the pounding beautifully, and the batwing did us both proud. What a ride! I was grateful to have a sail -- I doubt if I could have muscled my way across the Bay if I'd had to paddle. "

Gross Reservoir
Funny name but looks like a beautiful place.
"Gross Reservoir on South Boulder Creek is a new attractive destination for Front Range paddlers. It was opened by Denver Water this year for paddling (or using any car-top boats) during summer months.
